Choosing a Flight
When deciding on a particular flight, consider the following:
A departure early in the day is less likely to be delayed than a later flight, due to "ripple" effects throughout the day. Also, if an early flight does get delayed or canceled, you have more rerouting options.- You always stand a better chance of getting an on-time flight if you take the first flight of the day and if the aircraft was on the ground overnight at your departing airport. Call your airline's reservation number for more information.
- If you can’t book a non-stop flight, your second-best bet is a “direct” flight (same plane, one or more stopover points). The fact that you're already on the aircraft may reduce your chance of getting bumped.
- The more connections, the greater your chances of getting bumped or suffering a delay or flight cancellation.
- Food and audio/movie entertainment are not available on all flights.
- Check the on-time rating for the particular flight.
